Watch the Men Fall (NE, Suisse)L’Eternité et un jour is Watch the Men Fall’s latest CD. Like in the Oktober album, the compositions are chilly and melancholic. The acoustic timbre of the vocal, drum and bass sections are complemented by an intense work on electronic and sampling sound processing. L’Eternité et un jour has a new touch in sound elaboration and is therefore detached from Oktober. The compositions are thus warmer, more tormented as well as intimate, reflecting thus a new atmosphere. In this respect, regarding the basic influences of trip hop and new wave, Watch the Men Fall have opened their references to no wave, hip hop, postrock and electronica. The new vocalists Gail M. and Daniel E. place Watch the Men Fall in a more personal dimension. Nicolas M. (drums, samplings, programming), Serge R. (keys, samplings, programming) and Thierry S. (bass) compose the rest of the band. L’Eternité et un jour is fully attached to fictive worlds developed in cinema. The songs are direct references and tributes to movies that inspired the band members. 5x2 from François Ozon, L’éternité et un jour from Theo Angelopoulos, Gattaca from Andrew Niccol, Taxi Driver from Martin Scorcese, Me, You and Everyone We Know from Miranda July, Gerry from Gus van Sant and Die bitteren Tränen der Petra von Kant from Rainer Werner Fassbinder. The songs refer to various themes related to the movies: solitude, decadence, black humour and overall a gap of communication between human beings. | Présentation de 2004 Watch the men fall is a trip-hop project (drums, bass, keyboards, samplers/electronics, vocals) which is the convergence of earlier organic and electronic experiences. For over five years now, drawing its inspiration from sources as diverse as new-wave (The Cure), postrock (Sigur Rós) and trip-hop (Portishead), watch the men fall are constantly blurring the frontiers between recorded sequences and live instruments, creating intense and emotional downtempo music. The band combines hip-hop beats, atmospheric synths lines, low hypnotic basslines with the singer's ethereal voice. After a set of concerts, watch the men fall released their first 4 track CD (October e.p.) in 2003, which was positively reviewed among the alternative music scene. This resulted in more than a hundred airplays and several interviews on national and private Swiss radio stations. After two important dates in 2004 (Montreux Jazz Festival-off and opening for Mich Gerber), the group decide to focus on the realization of a new full length CD which should be completed in autumn 2006. ![]() Watch The Men Fall, reconquête d'une douleur primitive.
